Great travel/packing tips!   As a speaker who travels frequently, I always think of myself as the &quot;Queen of Carry On&quot; (I almost never check luggage.)  However your two weeks to Belize with a backpack is pretty impressive!!!
 
I loved your comment about having to &quot;make hard choices&quot;...for me that&#039;s often the one you mention re: taking shoes that go with more than one outfit.  Over the years, I&#039;ve gotten it down to one pair of business-to-casual pumps, gym shoes and multipurpose flip flops.    
 
I like your idea about breaking up the travel items instead of one big cosmetic bag; hadn&#039;t thought of that space-saving trick.
